Hill Air Force Base air show

On Saturday, we spent the day at Hill Air Force Base for their annual free open house. They had airplanes flying overhead all day. Every time one of the planes flew by, Alex would look up with this cute look on his face. He loved it. Last year for his birthday, we took him to the air force museum. Alex loves vehicles of all shapes and sizes. John liked seeing the planes, but the ones flying overhead were much too loud for him. He wanted to go home all day. As part of the open house, they opened up some of their airplanes for people walk through. They walked through a C-130 Galaxy that would hold 4 houses the size of ours. This is my family in the cargo hold of a smaller plane.

Some of the planes had steps to climb up and see the cockpit. The kids wanted to see the F-16. Dave knows enough about planes to be able to point out parts to the kids.

Some of the planes weren't open to see into, but we got to touch them. Alex thought this was so cool. He had to be picked up to touch many of the planes. The highlight of the day was seeing the Thunderbirds fly. Dave shot some video of that while the kids and I were eating snow cones. John even admitted that the Thunderbirds were cool, and not too loud. Alex called them his planes because he has a little model plane that looks just like a Thunderbird.

We were at the air show for 6 hours. The kids loved it, but it was a long day. I'm glad that Erin was able to watch baby Michael so we didn't have to bring him too.
